1. FC Magdeburg has condemned the racist insults against its Dutch striker Luc Castaignos and stood behind the player.

“1. FC Magdeburg strongly condemns these insults and distances itself from the person who wrote these disgusting sentences,” it said in a statement under the heading “Clear stance against racism”. In addition, the FCM announced that it would consider legal action.

The striker made the insult public via his private Instagram account. “I take full responsibility for my missed penalty, but I don’t accept that people can say anything. Stop writing racist messages,” he wrote alongside a recording of the message.
