Sam Bennett ready to relaunch with Decathlon-AG2R La Mondiale at the Tour de La Provence: “I’m not easy to demolish”

Sullen, even terrifying. It’s a bit like what you’d imagine from a former Tour de France green jersey who hasn’t won in the World Tour for almost eighteen months. Sam Bennett is the complete opposite, joking and talkative, when telling us about his integration into his new team Decathlon-AG2R La Mondiale during an internship in January. The Irishman is 33 years old but still wants to prove. To himself, already, that he is capable of regaining his best level. And to his team, which is betting on a project around a sprinter for the first time since 2004 and the Estonian Jaan Kirsipuu. “We have a plan,” reassures Bennett, who already hopes to see physical progress in the Tour de La Provence, his first race under his new colors.
