Marquinhos spent over a decade with PSG.

It’s been ten years since Marquinhos left for France and PSG. Ten years. On a football scale, it’s an eternity. From young hopeful to captain, the Brazilian defender has played all the roles, worn all the costumes, but in recent seasons, as Paris fails in its quest for the Champions League, his name comes up occasionally in the list of those that it must change. And at the same time his experience and knowledge of the club and French football are valuable.

A decade spent at PSG for Marquinhos

Several clubs are mentioned to welcome him this summer. Extended several times, Marquinhos was last extended in the spring of 2023 and since then, he has been linked to PSG until 2028. For the four years remaining on his contract, Transfermarkt estimates his market valuation at 60 million euros, the KPMG Football Benchmark at 57.4 million, when the CIES Football Observatory estimates it at more than 30 million euros.

At 29, he still has time to complete his career

As captain and boss of the Parisian defense, his salary is adjusted to his status. It exceeds one million euros gross per month (€14.4 million per season) and it belongs to the highest paid players in the French football championship. At 29, he can still aim for one or two big contracts in Europe, before perhaps like others, seeing even bigger salaries, in a country far from the Old Continent.
