Real Madrid is running away from being chased by its rivals in the Spanish League. The whites now maintain quite a distance in points in the standings after beating Girona.
The 24th Jornada of the Spanish League presents a duel between two of the current top teams, Real Madrid vs Girona. The match took place at the Santiago Bernabeu, Sunday (11/2/2024).
The home team appeared dominant and managed to achieve a landslide victory 4-0. Jude Bellingham was the star by scoring a brace, while the other two goals were scored by Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo respectively.
The victory over Girona means Real Madrid has now collected 61 points and is firmly at the top of the Spanish League standings. Carlo Ancelotti’s troops are 5 points ahead of Girona below.
In another match, Barcelona failed to win when they hosted Granada on Monday (12/2/2024) early morning WIB. The cules held to a 3-3 draw.
Successive goals occurred with Barcelona trailing 1-2 and 2-3 to Granada. Lamine Yamal’s second goal in the 80th minute saved the day Blaugrana from defeat.
The draw against Granada means Barcelona has now collected 51 points in third place. Barca is still 5 points behind Girona, and 10 points behind Real Madrid.
The defeat came from the fourth ranked team, Atletico Madrid. The Colchoneros fell 0-1 at the hands of Sevilla through Isaac Romero’s only goal.
These results meant that Atletico failed to overtake Barcelona from third place. Antoine Griezmann cs is stuck in fourth place with 48 points.
