Profile of Jairo Riedewald, Crystal Palace Player Who Reportedly Wants to Defend for the Indonesian National Team

KOMPAS.com – Crystal Palace midfielder, Jairo Riedewald, is said to have a desire to defend the Indonesian national team.

Former PSSI Exco member, Hasani Abdulgani, said that PSSI had actually been monitoring Jairo Riedewald for a long time, who could play as a defender or midfielder to strengthen the Indonesian national team.

However, Hasani Abdulgani explained, PSSI has doubts that Jairo Riedewald has Indonesian blood.

“It’s been a long time since Jairo Riedewald’s name appeared when PSSI wanted to recruit diaspora players,” said Hasani Abdulgani on his personal Instagram social media.

“However, so far there have been doubts that this Crystal Palace player has blood ties to Indonesia. It is said that Jairo is of Surinamese descent.”

Now, the man born in Aceh admitted that he received good news after Jairo Riedewald had the desire to play for the Indonesian national team.

“Last week someone contacted me, saying his grandson wanted to play for the national team,” said a member of the PSSI Executive Committee for the 2019-2023 period.

According to Hasani Abdulgani, someone who informed him said that Jairo Riedewald actually had Manadonese blood, not Surinamese as was initially thought.

Not surprisingly, the man who was originally a journalist explained that carrying out the naturalization process for Jairo Riedewald would be an advantage for the Indonesian national team.

“If it is correct and administratively it can be completed, of course the Indonesian national team will really benefit from getting this grade A player,” he said.

“Hopefully it will happen,” said Hasani Abdulgani regarding his hope that Jairo Riedewald can be part of the Indonesian national team squad.

Jairo Riedewald once studied at the Ajax academy

The 27 year old player studied at the academy of the big Dutch club, Ajax Amsterdam.

In fact, the Dutch-born player managed to break into the Ajax first team.

Riedewald contributed three goals and three assist from 93 matches with Ajax Amsterdam in all competitions.
