Potential Moves in the NBA: Teams in the Mix for Paul George and Spencer Dinwiddie Buyout

Paul George and the LA Clippers do not currently seem to be moving towards a contract extension, the Philadelphia 76ers are apparently ready for an opportunity to attack the superstar. Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Mavericks are probably waiting for a buyout of Spencer Dinwiddie from the Toronto Raptors.

NBA Rumors: Paul George in the sights of the Philadelphia 76ers

The Philadelphia 76ers will have a lot of cap space next summer through expiring contracts, and in addition to Tyrese Maxey as a restricted free agent, the Sixers also apparently have Paul George on their radar.

“If Paul George and the Clippers can’t agree on a contract extension, the Sixers could be very aggressive in the offseason,” Chris Haynes (Bleacher Report) reported at the trade deadline.

George has a player option for next season for $48.7 million, so he could opt out of his contract as early as the summer. Then he will be 34 years old and perhaps already looking for what could be his last really big payday.

NBA Rumors: Dinwiddie probably facing release from Raptors – Lakers and Mavs lurking

Spencer Dinwiddie was traded from the Brooklyn Nets to the Toronto Raptors in the Dennis Schröder trade, but they apparently don’t want to keep him until the end of his contract in the summer. To avoid an upcoming $1.5 million bonus for games played, the Raptors plan to release the guard, according to Shams Charania (The Athletic).

According to the report, potential interested parties are already known, namely the Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas Mavericks, New Orleans Pelicans and Philadelphia 76ers. Dinwiddie already played for 23 games with the Mavericks in the 2021/22 season, in which he put up 15.8 points and 3.9 assists in 28.3 minutes per game.

The 30-year-old was traded to the Raptors for Schröder and Thaddeus Young and is earning $18.8 million in the final year of his contract.

NBA News: New York Knicks’ OG Anunoby out after surgery

OG Anunoby has given the New York Knicks a boost since his arrival, but the powerful defenseman will apparently be missing from the East’s surprise team for a while. According to Adrian Wojnarowski (ESPN), Anunoby underwent surgery to remove a piece of loose bone in his right elbow.

However, this is not a major procedure; the forward should return to basketball activities in three weeks. He had previously tried resting the elbow, but the procedure was the best way to ensure full recovery until the final stretch of the season and the playoffs.

Anunoby came to the Knicks via trade from the Toronto Raptors in December, who have won 12 of the 14 games with him on the floor. Anunoby is averaging 15.6 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.8 steals in 35.7 minutes per game on 51.6 percent from the field and 39.1 percent from downtown as a Knickerbocker.

NBA News: Grizzlies and Jackson agree to deal

The Memphis Grizzlies and GG Jackson have apparently agreed to a four-year contract extension, Wojnarowski reports. This includes three seasons with a guaranteed salary. Jackson was selected 45th overall in the last draft and was given a two-way contract by the Grizzlies.

The power forward only turned 19 shortly before Christmas, before Woj’s report the best game of his young career with 27 points on 9/18 from the field and 4/9 from downtown as well as 9 rebounds (4 at the offensive rim) and not a single turnover in over 32 minutes coming off the bench.

In 19 appearances, Jackson has put up 8.9 points and 3.2 rebounds in 17.6 minutes per game on 41.9 percent from the field and 37.5 percent on triples. In college, he played one season for the South Carolina Gamecocks.
