Persija loses at the hands of Arema FC, Rio Fahmi highlights the referee’s leadership

GIANYAR – Full back Persija , Ilham Rio Fahmi, highlighted the referee’s leadership in the match against Arema FC in Week 26 of Liga 1 2023/2024. According to him, there were two refereeing decisions which were quite detrimental to the Kemayoran Tigers – Persija’s nickname.

Persija suffered defeat from Arema with a score of 2-3 when they visited the Captain I Wayan Dipta Stadium, Gianyar, Bali, Monday (26/2/2024) afternoon WIB. In this match, the Kemayoran Tigers had to play with 10 players after Muhammad Ferrari was given a red card in the 58th minute.

Then Persija also had another disaster, namely being sentenced to a penalty in the 36th minute after Firza Andika was deemed to have committed a violation against Dendy Santoso.

After the match, Rio Fahmi apologized to Persija supporters, Jakmania. He emphasized that the players were actually on a mission to win. And it is acknowledged that the Kemayoran Tigers actually performed very well in that match.

“Representing the team, we will definitely apologize to the supporters who have loyally supported us,” said Rio Fahmi in a press conference after the match, Monday (26/2/2024).

“Secondly, all of us, the whole team who came here definitely wanted to win. “But what can you do, in the match you could see we played well,” he continued.

Furthermore, Rio Fahmi also highlighted the leadership of referees. According to him, there were two quite controversial decisions that caused Persija to suffer losses.

“And we were also harmed by the referee several times, I don’t know whether it was a penalty or a red card, what is clear is that we were harmed by these two incidents and the players’ concentration was definitely divided,” he said.

“I haven’t seen the video footage so I don’t want to say whether it was a pure penalty or not, a pure red card or not. “What is clear is that because of this incident, our team faltered and achieved bad results again,” explained Rio Fahmi.

This defeat also caused Persija to lose three consecutive matches. Currently, the Capital City team is locked in 12th position with a collection of 32 points in the 2023/2024 Liga 1 standings.
