Patrick Mahomes Discusses Potential to Win Two Consecutive Super Bowls and Longevity in the NFL

Patrick Mahomes, quarterback of the Kansas City Chiefs, before Super Bowl LVIII against the San Francisco 49ers (during the night from Sunday to Monday, at 12:30 a.m.): “Being able to win two consecutive Super Bowls is special. There is only a small group of teams that have managed to do this. We just have to prove that we can do it, prove that we can win twice in a row, have that mindset and know that it’s a big challenge, and we’ll have to play our best football. But I think we have the guys to do it.

(about seven-time Super Bowl winner Tom Brady) I’m not even halfway through seven Super Bowl rings, so I haven’t given it much thought. The goal is to be the best player you can be. I know I’m lucky to have a lot of great players around me. Right now it’s about doing everything I can to beat a great 49ers team and try to get that third ring. And if you ask me in about fifteen years, I’ll see if I can get closer to seventh. But seven is still a long way off.

(…) You want to play as long as they let you play. And it takes a lot of work off the field, taking care of your body, eating healthy, trying to get rid of my belly. I’m trying to do everything I can to be healthy, go out on the field and be the best player I can be. I hope I can continue playing year after year. But I want to play as long as they let me play. Fifteen years seems like a long time, but Tom Brady did it and others have done it. So I’ll try to see if I can do that too. »
