Parker Byrd: Overcoming Adversity to Make NCAA Division I History

When, in the spring of 2022, Parker Byrd He graduated from Scotland High School in Laurinburg and was a top 25 prospect in North Carolina.

Then he had a boating accident. In just a few weeks he underwent 22 surgeries on his injured right leg. The last of which was amputation.

He also joined the ECU team, East Carolina University.

Friday was Opening Day. In Greenville, North Carolina, ECU faced Rider University. In the eighth inning, at 16-2, Parker came in for an inning.

He became the first player with a prosthetic to play in NCAA Division I

He earned a base on balls

Arrived first and was replaced
