Pacheco’s Victory Over Holmgren Ties Mexico-Denmark Series 1-1 in Davis Cup World Group I Playoffs

The Mexican Rodrigo Pacheco He beat the Dane this Saturday 7-6 (5), 6-7 (2) and 6-3 August Holmgren for tie the series 1-1 in between Mexico y Denmark in the playoffs Davis Cup World Group I.

Pacheco, the young man from his country with the most potential, won 61 percent of his points on the second serve in the first set to beat Holmgren in the first tie brake of the match.

In the second set, Holmgren took advantage of the power on his first serve to dominate his opponent by winning 81 percent of the points.

Pacheco brought out his best tennis in a third set in which he broke a 3-3 tie to go 4-3 ahead and win the last two games, to rescue a point for Mexico.

In the first match Elmer Moeller defeated Ernesto Escobedo 5-7, 6-2 and 6-2, the highest-ranked Mexican player in the ATP in 493rd place.

Moeller took advantage of his rival’s unforced errors, who could not cope with his rival’s strong serve.

The series, which celebrates Mexico’s 100 years in the Davis Cup, will end this Sunday with the Escobedo duels against Holmgren and Pacheco against Moller, in addition to a doubles match between locals Miguel Ángel Reyes-Varela and Hans Hach against the visitors Johannes Ingildsen and Philip Hjorth.

The winner of the series will qualify for the World Group I playoffs to be played next September.
