Only Ferrari is capable of standing up to Verstappen’s dominance

Charles Leclerc led the third and final day of preseason testing at the Bahrain circuit, which next week will host the first Grand Prix of the 2024 Formula 1 World Championship. The time of the Monegasque Ferrari driver with the C4 tire (1.30.322) , as well as the one scored on Thursday by Carlos Sainz (1.29.921), is not significant with a view to the race on Saturday, March 2, which will not have this extra-soft Pirelli compound. With the usual soft (C3), the fastest was once again Max Verstappen, showing that he and Red Bull are still one step ahead of the competition with the new RB20. “What I like most about the car is that my team has not been conservative and has once again pushed the limits by changing the concept,” Max celebrated after making the most of the test. The Dutchman also reaffirmed his leadership in Red Bull, improving his times much more easily than Checo Pérez. Carlos Sainz and Fernando Alonso completed a solid preseason, without reliability problems and with many laps behind them. The SF-24 is a more predictable car and has definitively solved the degradation problems of its predecessor. At Aston Martin they are more cautious. They consider that they have taken a step forward with the AMR24, but they know that at least two of their rivals, Red Bull and Ferrari, will start the course with an advantage.
