The Oltretorrente baseball and softball Group is pleased to announce the signing of the 25-year-old left-handed Venezuelan pitcher, born on 24 April 1998 in Guarenas, Venezuela, Francisco Sanchez, to the flagship team of the “Ciemme” Oltretorrente baseball sector group, who will arrive in Italy soon .
Francisco David Sanchez Osuna thus strengthens the “Ciemme” of new manager Claudio Corradi, who will debut in the Serie A baseball championship on April 21st in the away match in Sassari against Catalana. Sanchez, was part of the Tampa Bay Rays organization from 2015 to 2019. In 2020 the new yellow-blue pitcher played in the pre-World Cup in Nicaragua with the Under 23 selection. In 2021 Sanchez played in the major league of the professional championship in Venezuela. In the 2022 season the pitcher played in Italy at Sala Baganza, always in Serie A and in the championship with I Tigres de Aragua. The Venezuelan pitcher is not new to the Italian championship and, mindful of his experience, he will certainly be able to make a good contribution to the yellow-blue cause. In 2015, he was 6.55 in 33 at-bats pitched with 23 strikeouts. In the following one-hit, two-loss season, he was 3.38 in 42.2 innings as a pitcher with 34 strikeouts. In the 2017 season, 12 innings pitched with 8 strikeouts made, he was 15.75.
In 2019 a success at Princeton, he was 10.38 in 8.2 shots thrown with 8 kappa. In the Italian experience, at Sala Baganza in 2022, 2 successes against 10 defeats, he was 4.08 with 115 strike-outs obtained in 75 innings, 68 hits conceded, 38 free bases conceded.
Francisco Sanchez was chosen by the yellow-blue club from a group of candidates directly from manager Corradi due to the guarantees received. “He is a pitcher with good speed – said Corradi – who is experiencing a moment of form and who has already had an Italian experience in Sala Baganza, so he will be able to make a good contribution to our team and to our club” .
