OL-OM: Amine Harit’s incredible shot on the bar from the central circle at kick-off

He almost broke the record for the fastest goal in the history of Ligue 1. And with a gesture full of nerve, OM midfielder Amine Harit surprised everyone by trying his luck from the central circle from the kick-off of the Ligue 1 clash against OM this Sunday evening at Groupama Stadium. A 50-meter shot which crashed into the crossbar of Lyon goalkeeper Anthony Lopes, after only three seconds of play.

In images broadcast on social networks by Free, one of the broadcasters of the French Championship, the OL goalkeeper seems to help divert the ball over the bar. This is the earliest attempt to hit an amount in Ligue 1 since the statistician Opta analyzed Ligue 1, i.e. since the 2006-2007 season.

The Moroccan international, eliminated from the African Cup with his selection in the round of 16, could have beaten the record for the fastest goal in the elite, held by Caen’s Michel Rio in seven seconds and 72 hundredths. PSG striker Kylian Mbappé came close with an achievement after barely eight seconds of play against Lille in August 2022. Amine Harit could have made them all agree and superbly launched this Olympico within a few centimeters.

The two clubs face each other two months after Marseille’s big victory (3-0) in Bouches-du-Rhône. This first leg was postponed in December after serious incidents in October, when the OL players’ bus was stoned. OM supporters are banned from traveling this Sunday evening.
