Oklahoma City Thunder Terminate Contract of Aleksej Pokusevski: What’s Next for the Serbian Forward?

The Oklahoma City Thunder have just announced through Shams Charania that they are terminating the contract of Aleksej Pokusevski. The Serbian, who came to the NBA in the 2020 Draft from Olympiakos, barely counted for Mark Daigneault. This season there were barely ten games in which he had only added garbage minutes. Your contract rookieextended by the franchise in its second year, came to an end this summer.

Pokusevski came to the league as a unicorn project, but his projection was diluted by a game that was too erratic and a physical mold that was too weak. Now it is difficult for him to have a place in the best league in the world. In his four years in the NBA, the Balkan accumulated averages of 7.5 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2 assists in 150 games.

After a season marked by injuries that prevented him from attending the last World Cup with his national team, the door to returning to Europe opens for Pokusevski. It should be remembered that the interior arrived in the NBA without being a full-time Olympiacos first team player, since he doubled with the reserve team. Even today, he remains the youngest rookie in the history of the Greek club to debut in the Euroleague at 17 years and 83 days old.
