OCPM Girls’ Ball Badminton Team of Madurai Sweeps State-Level Competition

Madurai: The girls’ ball badminton team of OCPM school in Madurai was honoured by the school administration on Thursday for winning all categories of the state-level Ball Badminton competition hosted by the Tamil Nadu education department during the academic year 2023-2024 in remembrance of the Bharathiyar Day and Republic Day.The OCPM Girls Higher Secondary School students bagged gold under all categories including the Under-14, Under-17, and Under-19 events held in Pudukkottai, Trichy, and Coimbatore. Rajesh Kannan, physical education teacher at the school said, “This is the first time in Tamil Nadu, a school is winning all categories of the competition in the ball badminton competition.” A total of 38 teams participated in the event and our girls emerged victorious, added Kannan.The hard work and determination of the athletes and coaching staff were applauded by D Jeyasingh Prince Prabhakaran, bishop of Madurai, correspondent Stanly Jayaraj, and headmistress N Mary TNN
