Novara – Qualifying for the Italian A2 cadet championships took place on Saturday 3 February at the Leini arena. 143 competitors took part in the event representing 43 clubs. For the seventh year in a row, the Novara Judo Center obtains qualification thanks to the athlete Simon Vestali, after the good performance in the junior competition last Sunday, he obtains the pass for the final which will take place on 24 and 25 February in Policoro, putting with a heavy silver medal in the 66 kg. Fifth place for Gabriel Razvan Turtusan in the 50 kg and Gabriele Martinone in the 90 kg, ninth place for Chaker Majdoub in the 66 kg and finally eleventh place for Simone Di Giorgio in the 60 kg.
The director Walter Ferrari, in addition to congratulating all the athletes who took part in the race, wants to underline how the sacrifices of the sixteen-year-old Simon are gradually repaid by the results, because in addition to his 8 – 9 training sessions a week between judo, weights, running and tactic maintains good academic performance at the scientific high school, all this must be an example for everyone that with “will” you can do anything.
On Sunday, again at the Leini building, the “randori day” event took place which involved 732 children and the Novara Judo Center, the only city club to take part, obtained the gold medal with Alessia Vestali followed by the silver of Ilenia Vestali and the bronze of Sara Majdoub, Giulio Merlino, Iago Gelmetti, Eduard Bucur Draga, Francesco Robertini and Vincenzo Marino, all the athletes were captained by the coach Giulia Anchisi.
The teacher Flavio Vestali wants to point out that in the space of a week the club got a junior final (without having to wait for the qualifiers) and a cadet final, a result that had never happened for the city of Novara in the last 30 years or so, the results and numbers are increasingly on our side both at a competitive level and in the social sphere and all this leads us to improve ourselves and raise the bar.
