Neyland contributes to a teammate’s victory in his second start of the season

On Saturday, Latvian cyclist Krists Neilands, starting in his second race of the season, took 28th place in the first stage of the two-day cycling race “Tour des Alpes-Maritimes” (UCI cat. 2.1) and contributed to the victory of his teammate, British athlete Éten Vernon.

On Saturday, the cyclists covered 165.5 kilometers with one category three climb in the first 30 kilometers and several hills throughout the distance.

In the sprint to the finish of the leading group, “Israel – Premier Tech” cyclist Vernon was unbeaten, his compatriot Sean Flynn (“dsm-firmenich PostNL”) was second, and the Italian Vincenzo Albanese (“Arkea – B&B Hotels”) was third. The big group, which included Neyland, finished in three hours, 55 minutes and 38 seconds.

On Sunday, a 131.8 kilometer long stage with four categorized climbs awaits cyclists. On Friday, in the first competition of the season, Neiland took 21st place in the one-day cycling race “Classic Var” (UCI cat.1.1).
