The mayor of Molina de Segura, José Ángel Alfonsohas announced that the municipality already has its first pickleball court, a new and expanding racket sport that is gaining more and more followers as it is a very accessible and inclusive sports practice. This new facility has been launched on the sports court of the Altorreal Sports Complex, being the first municipal pickeball court registered in the entire municipal area.
The Molinese councilor has indicated that “From the Government team we are going to continue working in the field of sports with the sole objective of improving all the facilities and offering more services to all the residents of the city.” The first mayor recalled that this new, fashionable sport, mixes shots from tennis, badminton, paddle tennis and table tennis. In the United States it is a sport that is taking off and has already reached many Western countries, including Spain. In fact, this discipline is already integrated into the Royal Spanish Tennis Federation, given the spectacular growth it is obtaining.
For his part, the Councilor for Sports and Health, Carlos Perelló, has reported that “From the Department we have already had a first, very satisfactory contact with the Murcia Pickleball Association, in order to promote and publicize this new sport in Molina de Segura.”
