NBA Trade Deadline: Top Players on the Market and Teams in Need

The trade deadline is approaching more and more and at the moment there are still more than a few teams that still have to fix their roster. There is no shortage of big names on the market and with them also the interest of the various teams who for one reason or another need to shake up their season. So, what better way to do this than with a star signing?

Last week we announced that in two appointments we would find out what they are the 15 most attractive names on the market (starting with the first 7 here), using them as a starting point to also talk to you about what they are the teams that most need to move on the market, buying or selling these players before the trade deadline.

Let us now move on to the second part of this list of names (listed in random order), also aware of the transfer news that arrived this week, such as that of the departure of Kyle Lowry, who will arrive in Charlotte in exchange for Terry Rozier.

8. Malcolm Brogdon

There is interest from several teams in the 2017 rookie of the year, but at the moment the most probable destination for the Trail Blazers guard they look like the Knicks. Brogdon, who arrived in Portland from the Celtics, is averaging 15.5 points, 5.3 assists and 3.6 rebounds. Decent averages but not exactly irresistible if we consider that Portland hasn’t found a replacement for Lillard after his departure last summer.
There is also interest in the guard from the Lakers, who as you can understand have a lot of need to act on the market.

7. Kyle Kuzma

It is difficult to judge Kuzma’s season, characterized by good personal numbers but pitiful team statistics: while the former Lakers average almost 22 points (career record) his Wizards try to compete for the last place in the Eastern standings against the Pistons, protagonists of what could be the worst season of Always. Therefore, it is easy to think that Washington would have no problem sending Kuzma away in exchange for some picks in the next draft. Kings, Heat and Mavericks are interested in the player more than anyone.

[Dallas Mavericks]

Kuzma provides us with the perfect assist to get to talking about Luka’s Mavs. These Mavericks are certainly not burdened by title expectations like those that have weighed on the Celtics for a couple of years now, however it would be foolish to pretend not to know that if they want to maximize the window of stay of the Slovenian talent, they have to do something concrete on the market. Doncic’s contract expires in 2026 and it wouldn’t be surprising if, should the Mavs organization fail to build a title roster around him, the superstar born in ’99 were to request to be traded. Which is why it would be good for the Dallas front office to make a move on the market to fill those gaps that the team is suffering from, also thanks to the many injuries they have had in the first part of this season.

6. Alex Caruso

Another name on the Mavs’ wish list is Alex Caruso, a player who the Bulls will struggle to let go, but who will certainly be let go in the event of essential offers before the trade deadline. Not an impossible scenario, given the number of teams interested in the former Lakers, 6: Warriors, Mavericks, Bucks, Pacers, Thunder and Lakers.

5. Bogdan Bogdanović

Still remaining in the guards department, an absolutely tempting name is that of Bogdan Bogdanovic, who at the end of this season will still have three years left on his contract. The player, however, has been in Atlanta for 4 years now and given the situation of the Hawks, currently tenth in the East and with few prospects for the future, he could be sold in the face of an offer worthy of his value, probably higher than the 17 million he takes now (given certain contracts that exist in today’s NBA). In addition to the Lakers, the Cavaliers, Heat, Magic and Timberwolves are also interested in him.

[Miami Heat]

Con one of the older rosters of the entire NBA it is difficult to imagine that the Heat will be able to reproduce another post-season like last year’s, and it is even more difficult to imagine that this year they will be able to go all the way, unless they move on the market first of February 8. To date, the Heat have taken advantage of Lowry’s discontent to trade him for Rozier, arriving from Charlotte. Right from the Hornets themselves, the Miami Heat could go fishing again to try to improve their roster with Gordon Hayward.
