SANTO DOMINGO,.- The national senior men’s basketball team faces its first challenge of 2024 this Friday when the AmeriCup 2025 qualifying windows begin with a match against the representation of Mexico at the Virgilio Travieso Soto Sports Palace.

The leader of the Quisqueyan team and his players declared themselves ready to face the Aztec team, which is already on Dominican soil and has exhausted several training sessions in the legendary Dominican capacity.

“The key is to execute the same work plan that we have carried out in the last three years,” said Díaz, who is in charge of the adult team for the first time in his successful career. “We have had good results and I hope everything continues like this against Mexico, which is a good team and deserves all our respect.”

The San Francisco de Macorís native coach announced his 12 players this Wednesday and made it clear that he knows each of them, in addition to showing confidence in that core due to the varied contributions they can provide on the field.

The national team is made up of captain Víctor Liz, Juan Guerrero, Ángel Luis Delgado, Jean Montero, Luis Santos, Gelvis Solano, Andrés Feliz, Omar Silverio, Jassel Pérez, Eloy Vargas, Juan Miguel Suero and Jonathan Araujo.

Diaz will be assisted by a coaching staff made up of José Santos Ceballos, Julio Duquela, Abraham Disla and Jonathan Matos.
