SANTO DOMINGO.- The National Institute of Physical Education brought its “Athletes with INEFI” program to Ciudad Juan Bosch this Friday, which was attended by renowned high-performance athletes and old glories of Dominican sports.
During the day, dental operations, exhibitions, talks and delivery of props were also carried out in the six existing student centers in that town located in Santo Domingo Este.
The exhibitions and talks were directed by the FIDE master, Braulio Ramírez in chess; the Immortal of Dominican sports, Blanca Iris Alejo of table tennis; María García in Judo, Gina Mambrú, in volleyball, Francisco Alberto Ozuna in basketball, handball athletes Cari Luz Domínguez, Jhoanna Elizabeth and Zuleidy Suárez; Juana Arrendel, in athletics, Ana Villanueva, in Karate, and the Pan American medalist Nelson Javier Ozuna in badminton.
The director of INEFI, Alberto Rodríguez Mella, along with the high-performance athletes and immortals of Dominican sports who held the talks and sports clinics in the schools of the Juan Bosch City.
Alberto Rodríguez, executive director of INEFI, highlighted the willingness of the athletes to participate and share their knowledge with young Dominicans.
“We greatly appreciate the participation of these legends of Dominican sports such as Luisito Pie, Olympic medalist; the immortals Blanca Iris Alejo and Juana Arrendel, the Queens of the Caribbean, Gina Mambrú and Camil Domínguez and all the others, who have taken their time to encourage new generations to take sport as part of their development,” said Rodríguez.
For the activity, sports supplies from various disciplines were supplied for the sports development of the students of Ciudad Juan Bosch.
Judoka María García, coordinator of the “Athletes with INEFI” program, explained that the purpose of the activities of that department is to “integrate sport in educational centers, constantly implementing talks and exhibitions of different sports disciplines with athletes who have represented the country on the most important national and international stages.”
The schools intervened were the Evangelina Santos de Bergés Polytechnic, where props and the judo and taekwondo exhibition were delivered; Hermanas Mirabal School, where the dental operation was carried out, there was also a table tennis and handball exhibition.
At the Professor Juan Bosch School, in addition to the dental operation, a soccer exhibition was held. While at the Gabriela Mistral School chess and badminton activities were developed.
The Fray Balbino Pineda Gálvez Polytechnic was the scene of the volleyball exhibitions and the Liceo Coronel Francisco Alberto Caamaño Deñó gave an anti-gang talk and a basketball clinic was held by the former national team, Alberto Ozuna.
