Monza-Milan 4-2, pyrotechnic match: Giroud and Pulisic are not enough. Pessina-show and Palladino stops Pioli’s run

Milan interrupts a series of nine consecutive results and emerges defeated from the match against Monza. For the first time in the season, the Brianza team managed to beat a team in the first half of the table and did so with an important outburst at the end of the first half, where Matteo Pessina and Dany Mota found two goals in quick succession. The Brianza captain converted the penalty caused by Malick Thiaw, while Mota made great use of a counterattack, triggered by Andrea Colpani. During the interval Stefano Pioli, not happy with the team’s passive attitude, made several changes and Milan changed their skin in the second half.

Luka Jovic’s expulsion for punching Armando Izzo in the face triggers an endless succession of twists and turns. Monza breaks away from the match and Olivier Giroud and Christian Pulisic find the goals that bring the Rossoneri back to parity. However, in the 90th minute Warren Bondo made Brianteo explode, scoring a great goal from outside the area (the first for him in Serie A). In full injury time Lorenzo Colombo scores his Milan and closes the match with the final score of 4-2: this goal also comes from an excellent starting point from Pessina, author of an excellent performance. Pioli fails to overtake Juventus in the standings and remains in third place, while Monza enjoys the celebration at the end of a match which nevertheless remains a splendid spot for our championship in terms of intensity and emotion.

The social moment of the match

L’MVP

BONDO: Palladino inserts him in the last half hour to take advantage of the extra man in depth: in the final he finds the first goal against Monza with a true masterpiece.

Fantasy football

Promoted

PULISIC: Tarantolato. He comes in and after two minutes the first chance is created with a shot which, however, ends up very high. Shortly afterwards he scored the assist to make it 2-1 with a header. In the final he draws football with a curling shot that makes it 2-2.

Rejected

THIAW: Back as starter after almost three months due to injury. A total disaster. The penalty foul on Dany Mota was naive and came three seconds after another borderline foul on Djuric. Unforgivable, as was the empty exit on Carboni during the 2-0 goal.
