Real Madrid is again eight points ahead of arch-rivals FC Barcelona in the Spanish championship. The “Royals” defeated Sevilla FC 1-0 in their home Bernabeu Stadium on Sunday without the long-term injured ÖFB defender David Alaba. The 38-year-old Croatian Luca Modric scored the winning goal six minutes after coming on as a substitute (81′).
The league leaders thus maintained the credit on Barcelona, who had won 4-0 against Getafe the day before. The surprise team from Girona follows nine points behind Real in third place.
