JAKARTA – Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia (Menpora RI), Here Ariotedjo spoke about the existence of clubs that do not want to release their players to the U-23 Indonesian National Team for the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup. Menpora Dito hopes that clubs will want to release their players for the sake of the red and white.
As known, U-23 Indonesian National Team will carry out an important agenda, namely appearing in the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup. The event will take place in Qatar from April 15 to May 3.
This event can be said to be important because it is also a qualifier for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Therefore, Shin Tae-yong definitely wants to bring his best players for the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup.
But the problem is, Shin Tae-yong has difficulty being able to call out the names of his best players. Because this event is not included in the FIFA calendar, the club has the right not to release its players. Moreover, this event took place while the League 1 competition was still running.
Several clubs are also known to have made the decision not to release their players to the U-23 Indonesian National Team. So far, there are three clubs, namely Persija Jakarta, Borneo FC and PSS Sleman.
In response to this, Menpora Dito hopes that clubs will not prevent players from being released to the U-23 Indonesian National Team. According to him, it would be better if the state’s call took priority.
“Yes, of course, this is what we always monitor, namely that we hope that the league schedule and FIFA agendas can be in harmony. “From me, I certainly want the country to call and fight for the red and white, especially if it is an official FIFA agenda,” said Menpora Dito to media crew at the Kemenpora office, Monday (26/2/2024).
“We hope that the clubs can with a red and white spirit release him to the national team,” he added.
