Meet Ludovic Boutonnet: The Young President of the Argentan Archery Club

“To be president of the club, I had to be an adult. So we waited…”summary Ludovic Boutonnet, president of the Argentan archery club (Orne) since November 2023.

Created in 1985, two decades before the birth of the young man, the Bayard section was looking for a new president during the summer of 2023. Having just graduated from high school, Ludovic Boutonnet then proposed his candidacy… but he had not yet the 18 years required.

Another archer, Jean-Marc Duces, acted as interim for a few months before handing over the reins to the neo-president. “But I’m not alone, the office is there too”specifies the young man, now a student in Digital Humanities at the University of Caen.

An office which notably features the emblematic Camille Dapp. At 78, the man who was president in the early 2000s is the treasurer of a club which has 26 members, including seven women.

Three times a week, the archers meet at the Pierre-Roux bowling alley, half of which they occupy. “We have a lot more space than in the old Paty rooms,” remembers the septuagenarian, smile still attached to his quiver. Just a few degrees of heating are missing during the winter period for everything to be perfect.

Short or tall, skinny or fat: everyone can do archery

Ludovic Boutonnet discovered archery when he was in middle school, at 14 years old. “It’s a sport that requires patience, self-control, discipline. » It is also an individual sport where you compete against yourself. “Whether you are short or tall, skinny or thick, everyone can be an archer”, laughs Camille Dapp. The only obligation is linked to age: you must be at least 10 years old to start. And 18 to be president. But there, the place is already taken.
