Media: Mbappe has agreed to join Real

Striker of the Paris Saint-Germain club of the French football league Kylian Mbappe has agreed to join Real Madrid in the summer, reports the British broadcaster BBC.

Already last summer, the 25-year-old captain of the French national team announced to the management of PSG that he plans to leave the club after the end of his contract in June this year. Spanish football commentator Guillem Balage reports that Mbappe has not yet signed a contract with Real, but it could be announced when the Paris and Madrid clubs no longer have the opportunity to meet in this season’s Champions League matches.

Mbappé wanted to have clarity about his future by March, so on February 13, before training, he met PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi and announced that he would leave PSG to join Real. Mbappe was left out of the starting line-up in the next match against Nantes on Saturday, but came off the bench to score a penalty in a 2-0 win as PSG topped the league with a 13-point lead over nearest rivals Brest.

Balage reports that Mbappe is set to sign a five-year contract with Real, earning €15 million per season, plus a €150 million signing bonus to be paid over five years. Also, the Frenchman will receive a percentage of the use of his image. Croatian midfielder Luka Modric currently plays for “Real” with number ten.

In the first leg of the round of 16 of the Champions League, PSG defeated the Spanish club Real Sociedad of San Sebastian 2-0, while the Madrid team defeated Leipzig of Germany 1-0. Mbappe became the champion of France in the ranks of “Monaco”, but at the age of 18 in 2017, he joined PSG, initially being loaned to the capital club, but then a transfer fee of 180 million euros was paid for him.

Mbappe already wanted to leave PSG at the end of the 2021/2022 season, leaving the club without a transfer fee, but in the end he signed a two-year contract with the option to extend it for another year, rejecting a move to Real. After Mbappe told PSG he would not be renewing his contract for another 12 months, he was not taken on the club’s pre-season tour to Japan last July.

A one-year extension clause in the contract means PSG will receive compensation for the athlete. He then refused to meet with representatives of Saudi Arabian Premier League team Riyadh Al Hilal, who made a world-record €300m bid for him. “He is without a doubt one of the players that everyone would love to have in their team. He is a wonderful player,” Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon told the BBC.

Calderon emphasizes that the club has very young players, including Vinicius, Rodrigo, Jude Bellingham and Real are already a strong team, who are at the top of the Spanish league and have won every match in this season’s Champions League. “He will leave his mark. If he continues to play as he has, he will surely be one of the most important players in the history of our club,” says Calderon.

Mbappe has scored a club-record 244 goals and 93 assists in 291 games for PSG and helped the club win five French league titles.
