McLaren’s Competitive Edge: Lando Norris Confident After Successful Winter Testing

While McLaren has often been plagued by problems during winter testing in recent years and had a not so fast car, the MCL38 seems to be a competitive car. In any case, Lando Norris is satisfied with the winter test and states that McLaren can have a much better start to the season compared to previous years.

In 2022 and 2023, McLaren had major problems during the winter test in Bahrain. At the end of 2022, the team from Woking chose the wrong development path and as a result McLaren had a mediocre car at the winter test in Bahrain. Due to major updates, McLaren gradually became more competitive in 2023 and was often the second team from Silverstone, behind Red Bull Racing. McLaren hopes to take another step towards winning races this year, but that required a good winter test and they had that, apart from some minor problems. Lando Norris completed 145 laps in total over three days, after a clutch problem on the final day, and is a satisfied person, although he thinks Red Bull and Ferrari are still out of reach for now.

“We are simply going to start the season with a much better car than the past three or four years. We were better prepared in every area this year. I am very happy with that,” said the Brit. “We have certainly made progress, but Red Bull and Ferrari are currently a size too big,” says Norris Motorsport.com.
