Marc Overmars will not appeal his global suspension to the CAS

The technical director of Antwerp Marc Overmars will not appeal his worldwide suspension, imposed by the International Football Federation (FIFA), to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). Its spokesperson, Frank Neervoort, confirmed this to the Dutch news agency ANP on Monday.

CAS represented the last option for Overmars after his appeal against his suspension was rejected by FIFA earlier this month. The Dutchman was suspended on November 16 for one year, plus one year suspended, by the ISR, the Dutch Institute of Sports Law, due to messages “inappropriate” which he had sent to several female colleagues during his final season at Ajax Amsterdam in 2022. Two weeks later, the Dutch football federation (KNVB) submitted the suspension to FIFA, the international football federation, who then decided to extend it globally, preventing the Dutchman from exercising his function as technical director in Antwerp.

Dismissed by Ajax in February 2022, Overmars bounced back at Antwerp a month and a half later.
