Madura United’s reaction to Persija becoming a “Musafir Team” ahead of the match

KOMPAS.com – Madura United seems to have made a profit ahead of the match in Week 25 of Liga 1 2023-2024 against Persija Jakarta, next Thursday (22/2/2024).

The team’s luck was not without reason because Persija had to play the next two matches as a “travel team”. Persija chose Gianyar’s Captain I Wayan Dipta Stadium as its home ground.

“The situation in the capital city makes it impossible to hold home matches. The other stadiums in Jabodetabek are still under renovation,” said Persija Main Director, Ambono Janurianto, quoted from the club’s official website.

“This forced Persija to look for an alternative home ground and the Captain I Wayan Dipta Stadium, Gianyar, became the most likely location,” he said.

He also revealed the reason why Persija chose Bali.

“We consider Bali to be the most ideal location for Persija’s temporary home ground on February 22 (vs Madura United) and March 2 (vs Dewa United),” he said.

“Because, on February 26 2024 Persija will away vs Arema FC in Bali. So, in that three-match period, the team stayed in Bali so it was very good for them recovery players,” he said.

This slightly benefits Madura United because they play in a neutral venue and don’t get too much pressure from the home fans.

Madura United manager, Umar Wachdin, also responded to the transfer of the match venue.

“Madura United appreciates the transfer venue “This is part of an effort to maintain the continuity of the competition,” said the man who is usually called Umar to Kompas.com.

“Apart from that, we know that Persija benefits from the enthusiasm of their supporters when playing at home,” he said.

According to him, even though he is playing at a neutral venue, he believes that the Persija vs Madura United duel will still be exciting because both teams are carrying out the mission to rise.

Madura United is determined to rise to victory after three consecutive matches without a win, namely 2 draws with identical scores against PSIS Semarang (2-2) and Rans Nusantara FC (2-2) and 1 loss to Persis Solo (3-2) .

The match against Persija at a neutral venue is motivation to achieve positive results again.
