“Macky disguises his putsch with a ‘dealogue’”, at least that is what the Leader of the Republic of Values, Thierno Alassane Sall, declares, following the exit of President Macky Sall who granted an interview to the media this Thursday Senegalese.

“While the Constitutional Council asks him to set, as soon as possible, the date of the presidential election, Macky Sall refuses and convenes a “dealogue” whose main objective is to organize disagreement. Individuals carefully selected for their divergent positions are invited. Pretexting this predictable absence of consensus, Macky Sall will impose his wishes, namely:
– Take the list of candidates again to reintroduce and exclude whoever they see fit;
– Extend his mandate, through an abusive interpretation of article 36-2 of the Constitution, and stay until the transfer of power.
To make things easier, Macky Sall is offering us an amnesty. But the amnesty primarily concerns himself and his supporters. It is now obvious that Macky Sall and his accomplices are confiscating the Senegalese right to express themselves to protect their backs.

Macky Sall, who has incarcerated hundreds of people without qualms, claims a desire for reconciliation, fully aware of the sensitive issues that await him, in particular those linked to oil and the COVID fund. Dealing with him to postpone the elections and grant amnesty on a large scale would betray the sacrifice of the young people who died for opposing the postponement of the election.
I cannot under any circumstances endorse a dialogue orchestrated to complete the constitutional coup d’état which has been taking place since February 3, 2024. I am preparing to submit a request to the Constitutional Council in order to note and remedy the deficiency of the President of the Republic, who refuses to set the date of the election, in violation of his decision n°1/C/2024 of February 15, 2024.”
