Lucanian Athletes Shine at 2024 Italian Para Archery Championships

The 2024 edition of the Italian Para Archery Championships organized by the Italian Archery Federation took place in Novara last weekend. Three Lucanian athletes were present at the Piedmontese event: Anna Varriale and Valerio Comminiello of the Asd Arcieri Lucani Potenza, and Roberta Tempone of the Asd La Fenice of Viggiano.

Anna Varriale finished the qualifying match, in the visually impaired category, in sixth place, gaining access to the direct clashes phase where she stopped in the quarter-finals after a hard-fought match against Maria Salaris, who lost by two sets to Varriale, but with a good comeback he goes through 6 to 4.

First experience at a national level for Valerio Comminiello who, in the Open recurve class, succumbed to the emotion of his debut and closed the qualifying race in seventeenth place, confirming however the good path achieved so far thanks to the help of the Potentino coach Antonello Sabia.
Excellent performance for Roberta Tempone from Viggiano on her debut in the ranks of Asd La Fenice, good fifth place in the qualifying race with 514 points and guaranteed access to the final clash phase.

In the matches that led to the conquest of the absolute Italian title, Roberta Tempone beat Laura Pierami in the quarterfinals with a clear 6 to 0 and then lost with the same score to Elisabetta Mijno, multiple champion and athlete of the Italian national team. In the battle worth the bronze medal, the Lucanian athlete followed by coach Ugo Marasco was unable to get the better of the Sicilian Veronica Floreno, closing the Piedmontese experience with an excellent fourth place overall.
