Luca Marini Enjoys a Honda Factory Motorbike at the Sepang Shakedown Test

KOMPAS.com – Valentino Rossi’s younger half-brother, Luca Marini, enjoys his new ride with the Repsol Honda team during the Shakedown test in Sepang on 2-3 February 2024.

This season will be the first time Luca Marini has tried out the newest factory motorbike since he raced in the MotoGP premier class three seasons ago.

It’s not surprising that the experience of racing on Honda’s latest motorbike makes him happy.

Moreover, Marini is racing with Honda’s latest motorbike for the 2024 season and not the RC213V version which gave Marc Marquez and Joan Mir difficulties throughout last season.

Marini can also try out the latest prototype version which has different engine specifications from the motorbike from the season-ending test in Valencia and the latest motorbike parts that can be disassembled, including the rear aerodynamic package.

“You never try the track twice with the same motorbike,” said Marini smiling at the end of the Sepang Shakedown test at Crash.net.

“You change a lot of things, not only to find the best performance on the track in these conditions, but also for the rest of the season. It’s a different way to work.”

“I am also happy that all Honda riders are working in the same direction, we agree on everything.”

Nevertheless, Marini emphasized that there are several parts that can still be developed in his new ride, including aspects of acceleration after corners and aerodynamics.

“We still need to work in every area, especially in acceleration out of corners and more grip on the rear wheel,” he said.

“Also on the aerodynamics side we are not behind, but with less experience than other manufacturers are discovering a lot at the moment.”

“I gave feedback and some good ideas to the team from Japan. I expect a lot from them.”

The official 2024 MotoGP test will take place in Sepang on 6-8 February 2024.
