Lina Magull Opens Up About Leaving FC Bayern and Thriving at Inter Milan

In the winter, Lina Magull turned her back on FC Bayern after five and a half years at the club and moved to Inter Milan in Italy. She doesn’t think back too fondly on her last months in Munich.

“I was no longer happy with my sporting situation, so I thought about whether the time had come to try something new,” said the 29-year-old, describing her decision-making process in an interview with “kicker”.

After a muscle injury in October, Magull lost her regular place, which made her decide to try something new.

“I just had to accept that I no longer had the role at the club that I had in previous years. Then, after a lot of consideration, I decided to go on an adventure and gain new experiences in another country, a new language to learn and play football regularly again,” explained the midfielder.

Before her move, it always “felt less like” that she would get a real chance from the coaching team, Magull explained: “Of course I could have accepted the situation that way, but I decided differently.”

Magull is thriving after leaving FC Bayern

Her new start in Italy has been successful: Magull has already scored five times in her first six appearances for Inter Milan, and she was always in the starting line-up.

Nevertheless, national coach Horst Hrubesch did without the Dortmund native for the upcoming Nations League games. A disappointment, she admitted. “But it motivates me even more,” added Magull.

In the future, the four-time German champion could “definitely” imagine earning her living in the Bundesliga again.

I have been able to enjoy the league for many years and am happy and proud that everything has developed so positively. “I never say never and I like living and playing in Germany,” emphasized Magull.
