The NBA All-Star Game, in its 73rd edition, will return to the traditional format of the Eastern Conference against the Western Conference. The vote of the fans (50%), the players (25%) and the specialized press (25%) have decided the starting quintets of both squads, made up of two point guards and three forwards/centers each, in addition to the captains who They have been the most voted players in each conference.

Lebron James, in his 21st season in the NBA and at 39 years old, has achieved his twentieth selection to the All-Star Game (2005-2024), being the player who has been selected to these honors the most times, in addition to being the captain of his squad for the seventh consecutive time (2018-2024).

On the other hand, Joel Embiid will likely miss the All-Star Game due to a lateral meniscus injury in his left knee. The Cameroonian center, one of the candidates for the Most Valuable Play (MVP) and one of the most dominant players of this season, has been dealing with discomfort for weeks, and stated that he “will be absent from his next games to carry out a recovery program.”

East reserves Tyrese Maxey, Paolo Banchero and Jalen Brunson are part of a team in the All-Star game for the first time. Not only did Maxey, Philadelphia’s point guard, and Brunson, leader of the New York Knicks, have a good chance of making the team, but they both had solid arguments to be starters ahead of Damian Lillard, who took the spot for the fan voting.

Banchero, the 21-year-old young power forward, becomes only the second of the last 10 Rookie of the Year winners to be elected to an All-Star Game in his second year in the association, the previous one being Luka Doncic, now starting point guard on the Western team.

With the coaches’ selections, the participants of the All-Star Game are fully confirmed, which will take place next Sunday, February 18 as the main event of the All-Star Weekend, which will also feature events such as the Dunk Contest, Contest Triples and Skills Contest. In addition, the Rising Stars Challenge will also be played, a match between the best rookies and second-year players.
