Lanny/Ribka lost two straight games to Jongkolphan/Rawinda

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Women’s doubles Lanny Tria Mayasari/Ribka Sugiarto lost in two straight games to Jongkolphan Kithitarakul/Rawinda Prajongjai in the semifinals of the 2024 Asian Team Badminton Championship (BATC).

In the match which took place at the Setia City Convention Center, Selangor, Saturday, Lanny/Ribka were helpless in the hands of Jongkolphan/Rawinda, 0-2 (20-22 and 14-21).

“Compared to yesterday against Malaysian doubles, our performance was indeed better. We can be more confident. Meanwhile, now our opponents already know how we play,” said Rebekah, quoted from PBSI’s statement.

According to Lanny, the reason they often lose points is because they lack focus and often make their own mistakes.

“At first we were able to excel and play quite well. Only after that the focus disappeared. Likewise, at critical points we ended up wasting our own points,” said Lanny.

This was also acknowledged by Rebekah who expressed the difficulty of changing game patterns because opponents can continue to read attacks.

“We lost because we lacked endurance in playing. We couldn’t change the pattern of play. The game pattern we played didn’t run smoothly,” said Rebekah.

“Meanwhile, the opponent can actually apply the pattern he has well. This makes the opponent more confident,” he added.

With this result, Indonesia fell behind Thailand with a score of 0-2 after previously Indonesian women’s singles, Putri Kusuma Wardani, lost to Thai badminton player Supanida Katethong in two straight games.
