Peacefully, surrounded by loving family, on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Bluewater Health, Lambert Vanderkant passed away at the age of 79. Beloved husband of 53 years to Jane. Loving father of Ken (Julie) Vanderkant. Sandra (Derek) Starbuck. Ron (Cara Wellington) Vanderkant and Karen Vanderkant (Eric Jones). Cherished Poppa of Jacob, Noah and Lydia Vanderkant. Dessa Obscura, Liam and Oliver Starbuck. Brynn, Levi and Ethan Vanderkant and Allie and Archer Vanderkant-Jones. Dear brother of Willy VandenEynden, Martin (Jackie) Vanderkant, Elly (Pete) Rombouts, Frank (Rita) Vanderkant and Lena (Mike) Hodgins. Predeceased by his parents Martina and Martin Vanderkant, his brothers Bill and Charlie Vanderkant and his brother in law Harry VandenEynden. Lambert was a lifelong farmer with a passion for everything outdoors. Lambert and Jane settled together on the farm between Thedford and Arkona where they raised their children, enjoyed camping, snowmobiling, bowling, playing baseball and family vacations. As their family expanded and grandchildren came along, they retired to Sarnia. They enjoyed their retirement years together, travelling and spending time with their growing family. Lambert was a true family man. He will be missed by all those who knew and loved him. Family and friends will be received at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 from 5:00PM to 8:00PM. A funeral service will be held at Smith Funeral Home, on Thursday, February 8, 2024 at 12:00PM with visitation an hour prior from 11:00AM to 12:00PM. Interment to follow at Our Lady Help of Christians RC Cemetery, 5621 Nauvoo Rd, Watford, ON. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to Diabetes Canada (cheques only at the funeral home please).
