LA Clippers Coach Ty Lue Fined $35,000 for Criticizing Referees During Game

Ty Lue will pay a $35,000 fine after the LA Clippers head coach criticized the referees during Wednesday’s game against the Golden State Warriors.

Lue was ejected from the game with two separate technical fouls early in the fourth quarter after both teams briefly formed a pack. The NBA justified the fine with “public criticism of the arbitration panel and questioning the integrity of officials” in a statement on Friday.

Lue was captured in the Catacombs after the Clippers’ victory, as he ranted angrily: “Where are the referees? Cheating, they’ve been doing nothing else the whole time.” Lue even suggested violence: “Where is James, the referee? I want to kick him in the mouth.” He was referring to James Williams, one of the three officials.

The Clippers turned things around after Lue’s ejection and went on a 17-2 run to turn a deficit and ultimately win 130-125.
