Kliff Kingsbury Chosen as Washington Commanders’ Defensive Coordinator, Potential Reunion with Heisman Winner Caleb Williams

According to ESPNKliff Kingsbury would have chosen his next destination.

After withdrawing from the running for the Las Vegas Raiders offensive coordinator position, Kingsbury would be the next defensive coordinator for the Washington Commanders. He would join the team of Dan Quinn, who has just obtained the position of head coach of the Commanders.

Eric Bieniemy, who has one year remaining on his contract, served as the Commanders’ offensive coordinator last season.

Joe Whitt Jr. would also join the team as defensive coordinator.

Kingsbury worked with USC Trojans quarterback Caleb Williams, the 2022 Heisman Trophy winner, last fall as a quarterbacks coach and lead offensive analyst.

The Commanders currently have the second overall pick in the next NFL draft and they would be very interested in moving up to the very first pick to select Williams, who would thus reunite with his former coach with USC. The Chicago Bears are in possession of this tempting draft pick.

He also drafted Kyler Murray when he was head coach of the Arizona Cardinals for four seasons, and managed Patrick Mahomes in the NCAA when he was head coach at Texas Tech University.
