Julius Randle’s Uphill Road to Recovery: Avoiding Surgery and Return to the Parquet

Recovery times are now taking longer than previously thought. And for Julius Randle the return to the parquet seems like an uphill road. A dislocation of the right shoulder suffered on January 27th last in a game contact with the rookie of the Miami Heat Jaime Jaquez Jr. Diagnoses which, given the first images, seemed like manna from heaven.

The first communication regarding recovery time was 3 weeks. Well, those 21 days have passed and not even a shadow of Randle. The player himself explained what the situation is much more complex than it initially seemed.

“There are still necessary steps to take. It takes a long process for everything. I have to evaluate everything and decide. At the moment I’m just focused on trying to avoid surgery, obviously, and get back on the pitch as soon as possible.”

A phrase that is certainly not reassuring for someone who should have already returned to training shortly after last weekend’s All-Star Game. And since returning to the field now, Randle himself is moving quickly towards a more accessible goal: return to the field this season. Among other things, without ruling out undergoing one sooner or later surgerywhether immediately or in the future offseason. Number 30 confessed that the options are different regarding the operation. But he would be moving towards a return in the spring.

“I like how I feel today: I’m improving, I feel stronger, I’m progressing. But never say never. In the end I have to do what’s best for myself, to have a long career.”

Julius Randle earned his third All-Star nomination this year, despite not being able to take part in the sporting event. He has an average of 24 points and 9.2 rebounds per game this season, one of the drivers of the Knicks who are fourth in the East with 27 games left in the season.
