‘John van ‘t Schip leaves Ajax after a good offer from another club’

Valentijn Driessen has the idea that John van ‘t Schip could just leave Ajax after a decent offer. Football in the capital is nothing to write home about at the moment. Maurice Steijn’s successor does achieve more points, but many valuable points are still lost. Last Sunday Ajax did not get further than a 2-2 against NEC.

Van ‘t Schip is the interim coach of Ajax, after Steijn was dismissed. The sixty-year-old former footballer was already coach of the national team of Greece and PEC Zwolle. There is a plan for Van ‘t Schip to be given a position in technical management at Ajax next season: Driessen describes that role as ‘a kind of culture guardian’

According to Driessen, it is important for both Van ‘t Schip and Ajax that the coach gets a clear job description, otherwise it will be a difficult story, according to the journalist. At the moment it seems that Van ‘t Schip will mainly provide advice in his new role. “Both with purchases and sales and also with training, but that is actually a position without a real description,” Driessen explains in an online item from Today Inside.

The sports journalist does not get the idea that Van ‘t Schip wants to stay with Ajax at all costs, he explains. “I think that if Van ‘t Schip gets a good offer from another club to become a trainer, he will do it.” The next challenge awaits Van ‘t Schip’s team next Thursday. Then FK Bodø/Glimt must be tied to the victory cart, for their survival in Europe.
