Full house in Rudolstadt: The Central German Judo Championship took place in the Dreifelderhalle with well over 120 athletes. Among them was Johannes Schmiedel from SV 1883 Schwarza, who fulfilled the hosts’ hopes of at least one qualifier by qualifying for the German championship. We talked to the 18-year-old, who originally comes from Eliasbrunn (Saale-Orla district) and fought for SV Heberndorf for a few years, about the excitement before big competitions, stupid mistakes and a diaper baby on the mat.
