Jaroslav Tvrdík Steps Down from Executive Positions at Citic Europe Holding to Focus on Developing Football Club Slavia

Jaroslav Tvrdík quit as vice president of Chinese Citic Europe Holding, he will continue only as a member of the group’s board of directors. He also ends up as the head of the board of Pivovarů Lobkowicz. The priority for him is the development of football club Slavia.

The former social democratic politician made this decision shortly after billionaire Pavel Tykač bought Slavia from the Citic company, he informed about it today server List of Messages.

“In connection with the sale of SK Slavia Praha to a new shareholder and with regard to my health, I have decided to adjust my time priorities and work commitment. Therefore, I have left executive positions at Citic Europe Holding, including the position of vice president of the group or chairman of the board of Pivovary Lobkowicz Group,” he said Stubborn.

“I will be working in Citic Europe Holding only as a member of the group’s board of directors and I want to devote myself more significantly to the development of Slavia under Pavel Tykač,” added Tvrdík.

In 2013, Tvrdík received the position of unpaid “honorary adviser” to the Prime Minister for relations with China. Since 2012, he has been the president of the Mixed Czech Republic of the Chinese Chamber of Mutual Cooperation and is associated with the penetration of Chinese capital into the Czech market. Among other things, the Chamber was the contractor for the hoisting of the flags during the visit of the Chinese President in 2016.

As a representative of CEFC, Tvrdík participated in the takeover of the Slavia Praha football club by a Chinese investor in 2015. He joined the management of Slavia already in October 2015, when he was elected vice-chairman of the supervisory board.

The Office for the Protection of Economic Competition reported last week that businessman and investor Tykač can buy the Slavia Prague football club, including the stadium in Eden, from the Chinese company Citic Group through Fulleren.

The office allowed it in a simplified procedure, the decision is final. Citic was the majority owner for five years, before Slavia belonged to another Chinese company CEFC since 2015. The club reported on the transaction in December, but did not disclose the price, according to media estimates it is around two billion crowns.
