Rome, 22 February 2024 – The curtain has fallen on the first day of the Youth League taking place in Fujairah until next Sunday, a WKF tournament dedicated to U21, Junior, Cadet and U14 athletes.
Today there were U21 karatekas competing and the Italians received 3 medals, all in the individual men’s kata. An almost completely blue podium on which they stood Guido Polsinelli, Luigi Matacchioni and Federico Arnone.
Great gold medal for Guido Polsinelli of Fiamme Oro who thus confirmed his start to 2024 which is nothing short of crackling. In fact, he recently graduated as U21 European champion. Today, Guido, after a perfect path, finally beat his Uzbek opponent Samandar Urazaliyev in the final with the clear result of 41.60 to 39.80.
Luigi Matacchioni from Fiamme Oro and Federico Arnone from Centro Aquilano Karate took the bronze medal around their necks. Both had to win their matches in the repechage and then, having reached the final, they beat the Saudi Arabian Faraj Alajmi 40.70 to 39.50 and the Egyptian Abdelrahman 40.40 to 40.20 respectively.
Also noteworthy are 4 fifth places by the Italians competing: Alessia Eusepi in the women’s kata, Riccardo Bressanello in the 84 kg kumite, Nicolò Gaggio and Jonathan Rosciglioni in the +84 kg.
The event starts again tomorrow morning with the Junior class competing.
