IPD Approves ‘Paris 2024 Program’ for Peruvian Athletes and Para-athletes

The Peruvian Sports Institute (IPD) approved the “Paris 2024 Program” with the purpose of promoting the preparation and participation of our athletes and para-athletes in the “XXXIII Olympic Games Paris 2024” and “XVII Paralympic Games Paris 2024”for which it will allocate 4 million 470 thousand soles.

The program, approved by Presidential Resolution No. 011-2024-IPD/P, benefits our athletes with an important economic allocation, so that they achieve highly competitive sports results (gold, silver or bronze medals), with a view to maximum international tournament to take place in the months of July and August in Paris, France.

In this way, it will subsidize 50 prioritized athletes and para-athletes who belong to the IPD’s Athlete Support Program (PAD). In this sense, in addition to the PAD, they will receive from the “Paris 2024 Program” financial support of up to 29,800 soles per sporting event, considering a maximum of three events for each competitor, without prejudice to other sporting competitions under the responsibility of their federations.

The prioritized athletes and para-athletes of the “Paris 2024 Program” are those who, due to their career, are classified or have real possibilities of qualifying. The objective of the stimulus is to develop and promote the practice of competitive and high-performance sports.

The purpose is to give more possibilities to our athletes and para-athletes to obtain a gold, silver or bronze medal in the Olympic and Paralympic Games. It should be remembered that 13 Peruvian athletes are already virtually classified, either directly, by country quota, brand or ranking, among them are: Gladys Tejeda (marathon), Cristhian Pacheco (marathon), Kimberly García (athletic walk-20 km) , Mary Luz Andía (athletic walking-20 km), Evelyn Inga (athletic walking-20 km), César Rodríguez (athletic walking-20 km), Stefano Peschiera (sailing-ILCA 7), Daniella Borda (sports shooting-skeet), Nicolás Pacheco (skeet shooting), Lucca Mesinas (surfing-shortboard), Florencia Chiarella (sailing-ILCA 6), Inés Castillo (badminton) and Daniela Campos (para-archery).

This program is temporary and exceptional in nature through which the IPD assigns a financial subsidy in favor of prioritized athletes, with the aim of achieving optimal participation and representation in the “XXXIII Olympic Games Paris 2024” and “XVII Paralympic Games Paris 2024” under high-performance development.
