Hwaseong City, Gyeonggi Province, is busy working to select the host site for the ‘2027 National Sports Festival.’
Hwaseong City held the ‘2027 National Sports Festival Hosting Plan Reporting Meeting’ at City Hall on January 29th. About 30 people attended the event, including Hwaseong Mayor Jeong Myeong-geun, the Korea Sports Council bid inspection team, and Gyeonggi Province Sports Council President Lee Won-seong.
The Korean Sports Council’s on-site inspection team toured Hwaseong City’s sports facilities, including Hwaseong Sports Complex Town, Hwaseong Dream Park, Banwol Sports Center, and Hwaseong City Indoor Badminton Court, for two days from the 29th to the 30th.
Hwaseong City was selected as the main host city of Gyeonggi-do for the 2027 National Sports Festival in October last year and is pursuing preliminary procedures to host the event. The final selection of the venue will be decided by the Korean Sports Council’s board of directors around March after due diligence.
If Gyeonggi-do is selected as the final host site for the 2027 National Sports Competition, Hwaseong City will be selected as the host site for the 2027 National Sports Competition, the 2028 National Boys Sports Competition, and the 2029 National Sports Festival.
Hwaseong Mayor Jeong Myeong-geun said, “If Gyeonggi-do is selected as the host of the National Sports Festival, Hwaseong City will contribute to the unity of the entire nation,” and added, “We will do our best to host a successful competition befitting the status of the competition.”
