Hansa Rostock: Fans spread racist slogans over the railway loudspeakers

On the return journey from the second division soccer game at Hannover 96, Hansa Rostock fans made racist and discriminatory announcements over the loudspeakers of a regional train.

“According to previous witness statements, in addition to false arrival times and music reproductions, criminally relevant discriminatory, sexist and racist statements were also spread,” the Rostock Federal Police said on Wednesday. In the past, fans of the club have repeatedly made negative headlines.

The incident occurred last Sunday around 6:20 p.m. on the journey from Hamburg to Rostock. Hansa had previously lost 1:2 in Hanover. Travelers on the train reported how the mostly male group of young people got on the RE 4317 regional train shortly before Schwerin main station and part of this group illegally gained access to the train attendant’s compartment during the journey.

Over a period of 20 to 30 minutes, the previously unknown persons are said to have made loud announcements over the system, which could be heard throughout the train. Train attendants asked the fans to stop. However, the suspects ignored this, according to the statement. The federal police have begun investigations and are asking witnesses for help.
