GNP Seguros Arena to Host 31st Edition of Mexican Tennis Open After Hurricane Otis Damage Reopened

The GNP Seguros Arena is ready to host the 31st edition of the Mexican Tennis Open. This Friday the property was reopened due to the damage it suffered from Hurricane Otis last October.

“This week is one of the most important of the year, it benefits the tourist and economic activity of Acapulco, we knew that it was our home and we owed it this trust,” Álvaro Falla, tournament director, commented at the ceremony.

Tennis activity will begin this Saturday with the development of the qualys, to officially begin with the ATP 500 competition next Monday.

“11 thousand families depend on the tournament, during the eight days it lasts, two thousand of them directly work in the event,” Falla added.

During the event, Evelyn Salgado, governor of Guerrero, was present, who thanked the effort in recent months to have everything ready.

“We worked hard to rehabilitate this space that was devastated and that today is one hundred percent a world-class venue,” he declared.

While Seyed Rezvani, general director of Mundo Imperial, was in charge of revealing that 200 million pesos were invested to have the home of the Mexican Tennis Open ready.

This edition of the tournament will have the participation of Alexander Zverev, Holger Rune, Taylor Fritz, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Alex de Miñaur and Casper Ruud.

Álvaro Falla announced that it will not be the only tennis tournament they organize in Acapulco since “in April we will hold a Challenger ATP 125 tournament.”
