Giuseppe Fabbri, known in the city by the nickname ‘Geppo’, one of the eight members of the Foundation that owns Pallacanestro 2.015, fell from the clouds upon hearing the news of his ban by the FIP (Italian Basketball Federation) from yesterday to 10 February 2025: the sanction was triggered in his capacity as vice-president of the Tigers, the club that had just been excluded from the inter-regional Serie B championship. Born in Forlì, she came close to promotion to A2 with Cesena and played the last two championships in Cervia.
A similar provision – both motivated, according to the FIP, by “violation of the principles of loyalty and correctness” – affected Giampiero Valgimigli, cited as “president” (contacted in recent days, the doctor from Forlì had reiterated his non-participation in the club since 2022 ).
“It is a truly absurd situation – explains Fabbri (in the photo) – simply because I left the company on 1 June 2022, as evidenced by the deed signed in Forlì in front of the notary Cristina Scozzoli, an occasion on which the president was also present Giampiero Valgimigli. I have had nothing to do with the Tigers since that day. What is certain is that when I read about my inhibition I was surprised to say the least.” So what could have caused such an event? “A lack of attention or forgetfulness on the part of the club which did not inform the Emilia Romagna FIP committee of my definitive exit from the club. I repeat: from 1 June 2022. A fact which, among other things, also emerged from the chamber of commerce certificate regarding the Tigers company”.
Could there be consequences? “I’m discussing it with my lawyer and the accountant who are following me, but nothing should happen and there should be no consequences of any kind for me.” He will therefore remain a member of Pallacanestro 2.015: “Of course yes. I am not a member and therefore I will be able to continue to be one of the members of the club and follow and support the team at the Palafiera”.
