From Restaurateur to Black Belt: Damien Delandine’s Judo Journey

Beaugency. Restaurateur and black belt in judo!. Damien Delandine has just obtained the 67th black belt from the Beaugency Judo club. Having started judo at the club in 1991, at the age of 6, Damien obtained his brown belt at 15.

In 2003, he put his practice on hold to study at a hotel school, at the end of which he worked in several “3-star” restaurants, notably alongside ©s of chefs Marc Meneau and Thierry Marx, also a black belt in judo.

He then went to Australia for two years, before participating in the opening of a restaurant in Japan, with Thierry Marx.

Return to the tatami after eighteen years

Back in France, Damien was appointed chef de cuisine at the prestigious Château de Chissay (Loir-et-Cher) then returned to Beaugency in 2012 to settle there and take over, with his partner, the restaurant “Le Little Boat.”

In 2021, at the association forum, he found Franck Thomas, the professor with whom he started. Damien then takes up judo with the aim of obtaining his black belt. The first season ended with two successes for his UV kata and his UV technique. The resumption of the competition followed to score the 100 points of the UV combats, necessary to obtain the famous grail.
