French women’s team: Hervé Renard recalls Delphine Cascarino for the Nations League

Hervé Renard does not upset his plans. The French women’s team will aim for a first official title in its history – the League of Nations – with a group slightly modified compared to the meetings in autumn 2023. Big news for the Blues: the return of Delphine Cascarino. The Lyonnaise was injured in the cruciate ligament of her right knee since May 22, 2023. Returning to competition with OL for a fortnight, she will be an important asset for the French selection.

The main absence concerns another Lyonnaise: the injured (hip) Wendie Renard, who will therefore miss the semi-final against Germany, on February 23, in “her” stadium at Groupama Stadium. It was also from Lyon town hall that Hervé Renard revealed the list of 24 players called up this Wednesday morning. In attack, Delphine Cascarino finds her teammates Kadidiatou Diani and Eugénie Le Sommer, as well as Parisians Marie-Antoinette Katoto and Sandy Baltimore.

Her twin sister, defender Estelle Cascarino, is also there. Just like the executives Élisa de Almeida, Griedge Mbock, Amandine Henry, Grace Geyoro or Sakina Karchaoui. The novelty comes from the selection of young PSG defender Thiniba Samoura. The gathering will begin Monday February 19 in Clairefontaine. Whether the Blues then play the final or the small final, they will play their second match away: in Seville in Spain or in Heerenveen in the Netherlands.
